Consistency pays off for Marty Jones
In August when Marty Jones first picked up Fast Back’s American-made, texturized poly rope, the Iron Silk, he was 25th in the Steer Roping world standings. After four rodeos, Marty had climbed in the standings and headed to the National Finals of Steer Roping in 9th place.
Two days and ten rounds later Marty had placed in seven of ten rounds, including one first place win and two second place finishes. Adding his sixth place average winnings of $2,885 to an impressive $23,656 in day money earnings gave Jones a fourth place finish in the world standings with $52,176.00 for the year.
The 50th anniversary NSFR ended with excitement and Scott Snedecor, of Uvalde, Texas, winning his second world championship with $90,185, the third highest single-season earnings total in steer roping history. Trevor Brazile, of Decatur, Texas, was second at $83,424 and Vin Fisher, Jr., of Andrews, Texas, was third with $55,259.
“I’ve had a lot of success since I started using the Iron Silk. This rope gives me a truer go than a traditional poly rope plus it’s easy to care for and requires no special treatment. I love the feel and especially love the results,” says Jones.
Marty Jones lives in Hobbs, NM with his wife Donna and three kids Ashley, Macey and Caden. Marty owns and operates Bootsie’s Western Store in Hobbs, NM.
