2014: Getting Started the Right Way

0

Christmas is over and the new year is starting up. I have been MIA on the internet here these past couple weeks because I wanted to slow down for a little bit and spend some time with my family. Well, I am back now and ready rock the beginning of the 2014 year of rodeo.
I went this past weekend to the Texas Circuit Finals in Waco Texas. I didn’t win very much. Honestly, I don’t feel like I roped to well, but I feel better about my roping now that I got some competition under my belt for this year. I roped with Cole Davison there. He ropes really well and I was excited to get a chance to rope with him.

My back number from the Texas Circuit Finals

Since the Circuit Finals was a good way for me to get back into competing after my break, I feel ready for Odessa Texas this week. We have a USTRC Jackpot this weekend, which is also an American Qualifier that we are hoping to get qualified for. My horses feel great. This year, I am hoping that my new horse, Tex, and my old faithful horse, Slick, will pull most of the weight at the rodeos, while letting my older horse that has been so good for me over the past couple years, Goose, rest as much as possible and be good for me at the Jackpots. I’ll be riding Goose at the jackpot tomorrow and Tex at the rodeo on Wednesday for us in Odessa Texas. I thank God for the horses I have. They have been so incredible for me and I am thankful for what they give to me. They nearly always give me a chance to win. Good horses are crucial for us.
I hope y’all had a Merry Christmas and a great Holiday break. I’ll be back to keeping up with rodeo on here. Go check out my Facebook page at http://bit.ly/DHpage or follow me on twitter and Instagram @drewhorner24. Thanks y’all for reading! Have a good day! DH
