6/21 Drew Horner: Uncoiled. Custom Fit

0

I was really excited to bring my 2 good horses to NRS to be fitted for new saddles. I’ve never really had the opportunity to build a fully custom saddle to way I exactly want it and to fit my horses properly. It’s a blessing to be able to put something on your good horses that lets them feel good.

My 2 horses both work great, and they both work great with pain, so I can’t imagine how they are going to work without pain with proper fitting saddles and good pads. Billy Cogsdil, the NRS Pro Series saddle maker at the NRS saddle shop in Decatur, TX, taught me a lot about saddle fit and even taught me some things about my own horses. My good horse is a little thoroughbred-ish. Billy was able to teach me how a saddle should fit on his high withers and his steep slope off his back bone.

It was great to be able to go out there and test out different saddle trees on my horses. Not just have someone say, “oh this will work” and go. Billy told me this is where it fits him, this is why, and this is why it is going to be good for you. These good things could come from a proper fit.

This also gave me the opportunity to have something that looks great, too. As a professional you don’t want to go somewhere looking unprofessional. That’s true in all professions, business, work, etc. In order to be a professional, part of it is looking the part. Having good equipment that you can trust and rely on is crucial to winning.
