7/10 Drew Horner: Uncoiled.

I’m really excited about going into this week. Even though I had a bad week last week, I have a lot of confidence going into this week. We won about $2,100 over the Fourth of July week which wasn’t too bad for the way I roped. Normally, $2,100 isn’t too bad, but for 10 rodeos in one week, that wasn’t too great.

Typically I’ve always roped well this week after fourth of July. We have five rodeos this week. Starting off at Casper, which is two full rounds and a short. Then we go to Colorado Springs for two full rounds, then we go to Vernal, then Sheridan, Saturday in Estes Park, then hopefully the short-round in Casper. We have five rodeos and 10 steers.

My goal is to stay sharp, ride my horse, get clean starts and jackpot 10 steers in a row. My goal is to turn 10 steers, and make the short round. My goal is not to try to win 1st, my goal is to place at every rodeo. If I average 6-flat between these 10 steers, then I’ll win some good money. I may not win first, I may win the last hole, but that will get me six to eight thousand total. That would put me over the $50K mark this week, and I’m looking forward to it.

I’m excited about this week, and thank God for every opportunity I have out here. There is more to life than roping, but I love being out here. I’m looking forward to ten clean runs this week. I’ll be talking to you guys soon and hope you had a good Fourth of July. DH
