Drew Horner Uncoiled: My Plans for the NFR

0

Thanksgiving is coming around the corner. For me, I love this time of year. Except this year is even better. Thanksgiving is an amazing time to be thankful and appreciative of what we have and what we are able to do because of our freedom. This year, thanksgiving for me is spending time with my family and eating A LOT of food, but it also means that the NFR is just around the corner. Once all the food is eaten and the family goes home, I got to get back focused on Vegas.
Planning for the NFR is simple. As I said in my previous blog, the National Finals Rodeo is just another rodeo. The logistics of this rodeo are not much different than any other rodeo. We drive to the rodeo, hang out for a bit, saddle, then rope! It really is pretty simple. Now there are plenty of other things we got to do at this rodeo than we do at other rodeos autograph sessions, meetings with the PRCA, and just taking it all in while your there, but other than that, it’s just a rodeo. As for my horses. I am getting Slick and Tex ready for this one. I turned my other good horse, Goose, out for a couple months right when we got home and I don’t plan on riding him there. I have been practicing with the left wall and I have been working on firing my horses and driving them all the way to the steer to rope. This gives me a good, clear shot at every steer I run. Hopefully I can get this kind of run when I get there and turn all the steers I can. I got 10 to run out there so I am gonna try to spin all 10 of them.
That’s what my plans are in a nutshell. Thanksgiving is coming up and I hope you all are going to have a fun one. Be thankful for something today and remember what we have to be grateful for. DH
