Some Chill Time doesn’t mean Don’t Practice

Roping is a great lifestyle. I absolutely love this sport! There are plenty of times when I get worn out and tired of some parts of it though. Like the traveling… its not so much the amount of travel as it is how we travel. That can wear on me. I do miss my family and friends at home, a lot, while I am on the road, though.
We have been doing well so far, but not as good as we want. I won about eighteen hundred dollars in the month of April… usually we win close to ten thousand that month, so you can imagine how that didn’t feel so good for me! I am getting to be home now for a little while, so I am going to take advantage of the time home to practice, practice, practice!!! While I am home, I get to see my family and friends. May is a great time for me to slow down, settle in, and enjoy where I am. I have been getting to see my girlfriend a lot while I am home. That makes me happy!

This is my girlfriend, her daughter, and I getting some frostys last year in Galveston, Texas.

She is really amazing for me. She recently has started coming out and helping me practice on occasion. It’s pretty fun having her out there because first of all, she has learned how to work the chutes!!! That is priceless for a team roper. Secondly, she is learning how ride horses now, which is pretty fun. YES, me, a professional team roper is dating a girl who was not raised around horses here whole life, therefore, does not know how to ride. It’s a fun process getting to teach her how to ride, all the while taking advantage of the chute help. It’s a win win for me!
That’s me for now. I am getting things ready for the summer while enjoying some “chill time” at home. I love my family. I love my friends. I love roping. So while I am home, I take advantage of the time to grow those relationships while focusing on the few events I have now and the infamous “Summer Run”.
