Things have slowed down… Or not??

Lately, since the USTRC Finals, I have not had to much going on, and it’s kind of nice. I haven’t had to drive very far anywhere and I’ve gotten to just stay home, practice, and go to a close by rodeo in Allen, Texas. It feels relaxing, but all the while I feel excited as I anticipate going to Vegas for the NFR.
Quick update on my rodeos lately, actually just the one rodeo we went to, Allen, Texas. The format is one round and there were about 60 teams entered. We drew an ok steer and made a decent run on him. We ended up being 5.0 and we tied for 9th 10thand 11th. We won about $275. Not a great rodeo for us but we made a good clean run and kept up our confidence as we get ready for the Finals.
This week we are going to the first qualifier for The American in March. I’m pretty pumped about it and look forward to getting my first chance at qualifying for that rodeo. The qualifier is just like any other USTRC roping. The format is 5 rounds, and you can enter twice with two different partners. The top 10 teams qualify for the next stage of qualifiers for The American held in Mesquite the week before the rodeo. I want to go ahead and get qualified right now, but if I don’t, I still have a chance at getting qualified by finishing inside the top 10 after the NFR in Vegas, so I’ve got some good chances at qualifying.
This week of practice, a friend of one Garett McQueen is coming over and roping with me. He is a good friend of mine and I have known him ever since I started roping. He ropes good and it’s good to have someone like him come over and help prepare me and keep me sharp over this “off season” time for me. We are practicing roping in a small arena and also getting ready for the qualifier this Friday. I got new ropes in as you may have seen on my fan page and also on my Instagram, and my horses are feeling good and healthy. I feel ready for this week and for what’s to come.
