To Tired to Prepare

0

Today, it is cold and windy outside. I am tired and feel sore. I have been having a few good days of roping this week and I am still getting ready for Fort Worth and the big month of February ahead of us. Although I feel the way I do and despite the weather outside, I still need to prepare for whats ahead. These are the times that you win. You don’t win just by showing up.

I need to practice today and get my horses ready for whats to come. I feel good about my roping, but I am a little weary about how I will feel when it comes time to execute. Experience comes in to play at that time and preparation separates the winners in the arena. I am tired and I need rest. Yes, rest is a good thing! Laziness is not a good thing. My rest will come this weekend though, where I can sleep in a little bit, go to church and connect with my family. When Monday comes around, I expect to be full speed ahead with my practice sessions and my horse work.
I always like having some good time to practice and prepare for competitions. I typically do better when I get in a routine. I can go through the same steps every day and make myself develop good reactions to each and every run. My horses always feel more rested and at the top of their game and I typically win a lot more. I try to take advantage of these times when I am home to get prepared and spend some much need time with my family. It is only the beginning of the year, but this is the time I need to prepare. This is where I need to focus most, and typically, I do a better job now then when I am super busy with my rodeo schedule.

Time can fly by, I can get tired and weary, and I definitely can get caught up within my own rodeo schedule, but we got to take care of ourselves and get everything ready to go for when it comes time to win. Our horses need to feel ready and we need to be as mentally tough as possible to keep our reactions sharp. So, I am going to put on my CINCH Jeans and my CINCH Jacket, get my horses saddled, and get to work! DH
